7 Tips for Moving Day
Organize, organize, organize!
When it comes to moving the more you can do ahead of time the better. When you put things in boxes be sure to be as detailed as possible with what is in the box and label it for the room it belongs in. This will save a lot of issues after you move in.
Donate unwanted items
If you aren’t going to use it in your new home why bring it with you? There are organizations that are looking for household items so do some research and find a worthy cause. Many will even come to your home and pick them up.
Confirm your movers ahead of time
Know what time they are coming, what packing or furniture wrapping they will do, and get an idea of how long the move will take. Some movers charge by time others by weight. The more you know ahead the better.
Have a plan for where things go
Knowing before the move where the furniture will end up will save time during the move. You can label bedrooms 1, 2, 3 etc so the movers know where to put things at the new home.
Use the right boxes and don’t over pack
The right tools are critical in any job and the same can be said for moving. Smaller boxes are better for heavier items like books while larger boxes are better for lighter larger items. Heavy boxes can break or simply slow down the process. Don’t safe a few dollars on boxes to waste time during the move.
Have essentials ready
When you get to the new house it will be important to have essentials handy so make sure you have toiletries, food, and some clothes ready.
Take a deep breathe!
Moving can be very stressful but you will get through it. Take the challenges and figure out a solution and remember why you are moving in the first place!
