Small Fixes that Bring Results
Hi it’s Ryan Gibbons with the Gibbons Team and today we have small projects that you can do to increase the value of your home quickly and inexpensively.
The first thing we always are worried about with selling a home is curb appeal. What is the first impression that someone gets walking up to your property or seeing it online for the first time? So that initial reaction is very important. There are a few things that you can do outside to get your home ready. First thing you can do is landscaping. Make sure that the lawn and the property is well-kept. If you put out some inexpensive colorful flowers to add a little pop to the front yard and you can also seal up your driveway. One of the big things that people will first notice walking up to that house are cracks in your driveway. So spend a Saturday seal your driveway and look to do some minor landscaping fixes to make a nice first impression when someone comes to your home.
Inside your home is very similar you want people to have a nice impression walking into your home. And the first thing that you need to do is declutter, get rid of all the things that you don’t need. Put the kids toys away, clean off the countertops and make a good first impression when someone comes in. You can also have the home professionally cleaned to make that perfect impression especially when you’re getting your photos done.
To make a good first impression going along those same lines is depersonalization. I know you love your family, I know you love your kids but we want to take those pictures down so when people come in they can imagine their own kids pictures on the walls. We want to declutter and depersonalize your home to make a good first impression when people walk in.
Another small fix that you can do inside your home is touch up the paint. You know there’s those projects that you wanted to get to. That wall that doesn’t look right. A fresh coat of paint goes a long way. You can do it yourself, if you don’t have the time there are plenty of painters that can come in quickly and paint your house and give it a nice fresh look.
In your kitchen getting new cabinet hardware can go a long way to freshening up your cabinets and making things look a little newer. You can also look at doing a new backsplash and again touching up some paint and doing a little cleanup in the kitchen.
These are all projects that you can do on your own very inexpensively and they go a long way to getting you top dollar when going to sell your home.
And lastly going back outside power washing your home. Over time you do accumulate some dirt and wear on the outside of the home. You can either rent a power washer or again have someone come in and power wash the home. It leaves a nice impression and that first impression is crucial.
